Dynamic Positioning Simulator Course Classroom and practice

The course relies on the candidate previously completing the DP Basic/Induction course and DP familiarization in the Black DP Logbook, or Phase A and B in the Grey DP Logbook and covers positioning systems, propulsion systems, power distribution, and regulations.

Emphasis is on rules and regulations from relevant authorities as well as safety and efficiency. Through lectures and simulator training the participants will learn about the preparation and implementation of different DP operations.

Various reference systems and DP systems from Rolls-Royce, MT and Kongsberg will be utilized for this training course.

Examination

Theoretical and practical exam are required at the end of the course. If a candidate fails the first exam one is allowed to re-sit the exam on the same day. Take this into account when making return travel arrangements.

Prerequisites

For those with Black DP Logbook: Completed the DP Basic/Induction Course and Familiarization. The DP Basic/Induction Course cannot be older than five (5) years. The candidate must be holding a valid STCW certificate (II-1, II-2, II-3 Deck or Engine). This certificate has to be presented at the start of the course. For those with Grey DP Logbook: Completed logbooks Phase A and B. Phase A cannot be older than four (4) years.

Audience

Navigators, engineers and DP trainees, intending to qualify according to the Nautical Institute scheme.
